A shooting took place on Thursday evening in Antwerp’s station district. According to local police, at around 18:20, several calls reported an altercation and gunfire in an apartment on Van Stralenstraat, near Rooseveltplaats and the Royal Atheneum. Responders found three injured men, all in their twenties. Two were in critical condition; the third was also seriously injured.

Rapid police response

A local police patrol already in the area arrived in less than a minute. The suspects tried to escape and forced their way into a nearby building. Officers pursued them and quickly arrested three suspects. No additional suspects are currently being sought.

Victims’ condition and investigation

The three injured men were taken to hospital. Initial information indicated that their condition was critical and their prognosis guarded. The area was cordoned off and the street closed to traffic while investigators examined the scene.

Authorities have not released official details about the motive and are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of the shooting. The local police are coordinating the investigation and have appealed to witnesses to share any information that could help clarify the case.
