The allegations

According to investigations by the Romanian and Danish authorities, on 24 August 2026 the four men allegedly killed another man, also a Romanian citizen, in Denmark. The victim’s body, tied to a car battery, was allegedly thrown into a river in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The victim and the crime scene

According to Midt- og Vestjyllands Politi, the victim was a 37-year-old man from Vrancea County who had been reported missing. He was found dead in the Gudenåen River near Svostrup on 24 August 2026.

The Danish investigation and context

Danish police said the four suspects were in Denmark with the victim for work. On 4 September 2026, a Danish judge ordered their arrest in absentia on suspicion of murder. Five days later, they were arrested in Romania. Danish investigators also identified a possible crime scene at a holiday home in Pramdragerparken near Fårvang and continued looking for witnesses who may have seen something suspicious between 20 and 24 August 2026.

International cooperation

The Danish judicial authorities issued European arrest warrants for the four suspects. The SIRENE Romania Bureau notified the prosecution offices attached to the courts of appeal and the county police inspectorates, leading to the simultaneous identification and arrest of the four men in the counties concerned. After the arrests, the Danish authorities were informed and the procedure for executing the European arrest warrants began.

What happens next

The four men are to be surrendered to the Danish authorities, where they will face proceedings for murder. Until a final court decision, they are presumed innocent and retain all procedural rights and guarantees provided by law.

Conclusion

The case of the four Romanians arrested in Romania in connection with an alleged murder in Denmark illustrates the cross-border cooperation made possible by European arrest warrants. The final assessment of the allegations will be made by the Danish judicial authorities.
